Congratulations to all the students who participated in the Texas State Science & Engineering Fair in San Antonio on April 1. Special congratulations are extended to five students who won awards at the state fair: 7th grader Mac C. won 3rd place in the Plant Science junior category; 7th grader Bella S. won 1st place in the Earth & Environmental Sciences junior category and the Broadcom Master’s Award; sophomore Ben W. won 2nd place in the Plant Sciences senior category and the Governor’s Camp Award (includes a trip to a summer science camp at SMU); sophomore Adia S. won 1st place in the Earth & Environmental Sciences senior category, Governor’s Camp Award (includes a trip to a summer science camp at SMU), Association for Women Geoscientists Award; NASA Earth System Science Award and NOAA 2017 Taking the Pulse of the Planet Award; senior Sandy S. won honorable mention in a Texas Tech University Special Award in Arid Lands Sustanability.
The eleven high school students who competed at the TAPPS State Academic Meet on April 4-5 also had success. Overall CTKC School placed 5th in the 2A division. Freshman Lukas M. placed 3rd in Spelling. Sophomore Chen J. placed 6th in Number Sense and 2nd in Math. Senior Sandy S. placed 3rd in Calculator. Senior Kasee M. placed 5th in Prose. Kasee & Senior Sarah S. placed 5th in Duet Acting. Junior Zia Z. placed 8th in Advanced Math. Freshman Killian J. placed 7th in Science. It was a great showing for everyone.
